Never thought of it that way, but I think you’re exactly right. My guess is that almost all cases stem from the mothers’ mental illness when it comes to elementary school age children going through this. Once kids hit middle school, there are additional influences I think—and in those cases it could be that the parents are weak, ignorant, easily convinced and/or easily influenced, or just brainwashed.
