They were running some sort of Air Force military training exercise that morning- seriously!
They were running almost 85 "simulations" that morning. Most of the aircraft were sent out over the ocean. Hell, one of the simulations was literally hijacked airliners.
I do not believe that a training exercise could disable American air defence.
Look it up- they didn’t respond because they thought it was part of the exercise
That is an absurd excuse. Military exercises are routine and they don't stop the entire military from doing its job.
Of course it’s an excuse that was my whole point
Sorry. It seemed as if you actually believed it.
Oh and the commander at NORAD was out taking a walk the whole time.
That bottom line is not exactly true, air traffic control was speaking to a C-130 in the air near DC. They asked the C-130 to check out one of the hijacked airliners because it was in the area. The C-130 crew watched the airliner fly into the Pentagon.
Did the C-130 lob a missile at it? The plane, not the Pentagon
They didn't get the order, I recall.
No.
Serious question, although Bush eventually gave the order to shoot down Flight 93, it was already on the ground due to the passengers rising up to attack the terrorists (though they didn't know it at the time) but would you really want an F16 to shoot down an airliner full of people?
Would you torpedo a hijacked cruise ship?
No. But I might a LNG tanker.
