I heard there is like a decentralized Craigslist now. Seems interesting. But I think the first thing is to secure local food sources. Find an area more outside the city and start buying milk directly from the farm, etc.
And use hydroponics.
Initial setup is expensive but running it is cheap. $100 a month for a nice setup to run it.
