Mexico just doesn't have the same earning potential as living in USA. A "shit wage" in the USA is like the top 10% in Mexico. So it's a no brainer that they'd want to go to the USA and make dough if that is available.
So what's going to happen is digital nomads from the West are going to move to Mexico while Mexican laborers are going to move to the USA. Kind of funny, but it works. Eventually the talent / capital will create more jobs in Mexico and things might balance out more.
I'm on the coast in Nayarit area. Haven't asked too many people about their people fleeing. Many Mexicans I meet here are coming here from other cities in Mexico. They say the economy is better and it's safer.
I talked to one Mexican guy in Monterray and he said he was raised in Texas but prefers Mexico so he lives here now.
There's plenty going on in Mexico I've seen a good chunk of the country, there's a huge amount of poverty obviously, however there is much opportunity for anyone there who is reasonably intelligent. The people coming over from Mexico are the bottom of the barrel of their society, it's not like every Mexican has a huge need to immigrate to the United States.
Wait, I thought black people couldn’t be successful in the US with George Floyd and all.
San Miguel de Allende is fucking primo. I'd move there any day.

Yeah and obesity is a huge problem here just like America. It's certainly not unlivable and the people are not starving.
