Don't buy bullshit canned/freeze dried goods. They are too expensive and don't keep.
Step 1) get mylar bags, oxygen absorbers (not desiccants, oxygen absorbers) and an iron
Step 2) buy a lot of dried rice and dried beans
Step3) put rice and beans in mylar bags, throw in an oxygen absorber, push out the air, and seal the bag with the iron
That shit will keep for 30 years. One pound = one day of calories. You get almost everything you need nutritionally from these two things.

Five gallon buckets with lids should store above or under ground. If you want to be extra sure wrap several layers of tape from the lid to the bucket to ensure the bucket is sealed off.
Possibly. Just protect from moisture.
