True story: I had the nerve to complain to my 7th grade teacher that we weren't getting any math instruction. (In NYC, you got fractions in 4th-5th grade and then nothing until high school.) I asked her "where are the next generation of scientists were going to come from?" She replied."We'll get them from overseas".
