I think if the Signers looked at the United States today, they would support fully decentralizing the Government using today's technology. The States are meant to be a network of independent, localized, and self governed entities. They each make up a piece of the larger, or United Network.
I am working on a writeup of what would it all would look like. From how local governance and monetary systems like taxes, would interface and interact with the larger United Network.

There are some problems with this. With leadership, the masses will gravitate toward the same people that put them in the mess in the first place because we aren't local and we don't vouch for each other like they could back then.
Then you have the issue of property. Do the biggest land owners get to keep all that land? Do small land owners get to keep their land? What happens when someone's home is completely destroyed? What happens when someone who did not work for something lays claim over someone else's land?
When it comes time to pick the government, these long-standing positions will still be thought to be necessary by some and then we fight over who takea them and if they should even exist.
