I saw a French commenter with connections to the police claim there were 3.5 million protesters on the streets last weekend out of a population of 67 million. I've also read that historically, just 3.5% protesting has resulted in major societal change as that's when it becomes impossible to ignore and gathers widespread support. We have sheer numbers on our side.
I like how this doesn't happen in Asian places despite the governments there were obviously toying their citizens in ways that are only less psychotic than Australia. And even in Australia, people still attempt to fight back.
I don't think this will go anywhere. I could be wrong. This kind of protesting has always come across to me like begging though. Picnics in the streets to taunt the restaurants makes a much bigger difference. Same with plain refusing to follow the demands of the authorities.
