many of these 'dd' write-ups look like the product of 20-40 billable hours from 2-3 FTEs.
This is EXACTLY the concept for the Matrix.
The only thing different was that people were plugged into some machine that kept them distracted while their bodies were being used as batteries for some kind of creature.
I guess if you fall for the first part, you necessarily get the second part.
