This is precisely why they want to disarm the population because as any one in the military will tell you, it always comes down to boots on the ground. A single person with a good rifle or even a hand gun in a secure place can hold out for a while. Yes they can always just "blow it up". If the military is only ~200,000 people they cannot secure enough cities in America, differently not in the South. It would take that many just to secure a county in some places.
What the rhetoric is trying to do is make anyone who's argument for 2nd Amendment is "To protect from a tyrannical government" look ridiculous because right now it is a pretty good argument and looks better everyday.
