Before WW1 intellectuals clamored for war because they didn't know how horrid war was and they wanted to push their ideals around the world for safety and security. Before WW2 they took the polar opposite stance, claiming that only terrible people would ever go to war; and demilitarization would motivate dictators to lay their arms down too. They thought Hitler was a clown who would just fade into history.
Today they think tyrants are cool and patriots who just want to be left alone are terrorists.
Sometimes I wonder, given their charisma, pension for lying and chaos they leave in their wake if most intellectuals are demon inspired.
