People who are familiar with the culture war have probably heard about the quinnspiracy scandal where a bunch of sites aggressively defended Zoe Quinn even when got caught cheating on her boyfriend with urinalists and generally lying about her drama, either because of personal connections or the fact that said sites sided with her out of extremism.

While it's generally believed Zoe probably cheated for positive coverage as no reviews were found, this does not rule out the five guys simply pulling the reviews when the drama started as part of a dishonest naritive farming tactic to use lack if evidence to promote defamatory conspiracy theories about sexism.
