So no, you will never be able to "surrender" to a drone. It can't distinguish such a thing. It cannot show mercy because it is not human. It's like playing a video game where people actually die.
There is no possibility for automated killing to be moral, since only humans are capable of making moral decisions. There's a reason we have judges and juries instead of allowing sentences to be determined by AI. (although I'm sure some devious bastard is working on it)
If we ever return to normalcy, we will look back at this age and wonder how the hell it was possible to degenerate so much.
