The new Lockheed SR-72. Travels 4598 mph. Has to drop over 3000 feet per second in order to not fly off in to space (youtu.be)

Light doesn’t bend, calm water is flat. CHALLENGE at a lake put a stable laser dot (firmly attached to the shore) SHOOTING onto a poster attached to a boat, k? The boat is on calm water, no waves (like early morning on a lake) If the earth is flat the laser dot will not rise above the point it was originally pointed at as the boat travels farther and farther away from the shore. If the laser rises then there is a curvature to the strait shot land/water between the boat and the laser. Any thought on this experiment, pretty simple way to prove your theory on a lack of curvature over a large distance, hell you could sail that boat pretty far and still see a laser dot. And if the earth is flat then the laser dot will not rise above the level of where it was pointing originally. What do you think? This would prove to me the earth is flat, as it is repeatable direct empirical evidence!

Problem? Light bends all the time as it passes through air. That's why stars twinkle. That's why the road a mile ahead looks like water on a hot day!

How do you ensure that the laser is “parallel” to the ground and that the pointer is not adjusting the beam to contact the target thus defeating the measurement variable

A level plane, a bubble I. A tube. Making a level surface is not a difficult task, and may be done for this experiment. There are many ways to measure 90 degrees when building an experiment.

It certainly wouldn’t bend it up or down it would just be diffracted in all directions to the original vector of travel. As for the water on pavement, this is a very different phenomenon known as a inferior mirage, the explanation of how this happens first was explained by French mathematician Pierre de Fermat, who stated that the reason the light travels along these funny lines is due to temperature being higher and air density being lower at the level of the road. Without much thought this is not applicable to proper experimental conditions such as on a calm cold night on a lake with no warm temperature gradient at the surface. You see how this mirage example and the star light diffraction example is not relatable to this experiment?

What is whrong with this experiment, criticism is encouraged, please explain yours elf. It may prove you right that the earth is flat!!!

Ok I’ll lay it out simply. 330 am on a lake a boat with a poster board facing the shore is placed. A laser pointer is pointing from a fixed height and location on the shore, the laser pointer is 5ft above the surface of the water exactly. Therefore the dot will be five feet from the water pointing onto a poster. Mark where the laser pointer is hitting the poster. The temperature must be cold but not freezing, can’t do this on a frozen lake lol. Mainly because of the light bending effect of temperature gradients like some other smart people inquired about.

For the example with star light diffracting. Big big big difference in scale when determining if atmospheric diffraction is interfering with results from this hypothetical experiment. I have a green laser pointer that I can see the beam clearly with, like a light saber but it looks like it just is shooting on forever.

It doesn’t seem to bend even when playing with it next to Lake Michigan, as I’ve done many times tagging kayakers and boats with Freind’s aboard. I’ve never seen my green laser pointer bend it’s direction. I’m not a expert who went to school for light physics. I guess I don’t see how atmospheric diffraction is applicable on a small experimental scale, as it’s effect is a function of distance traveled and the only examples you offer are large scale star light diffraction. I’ve yet to see evidence that a concentrated laser beam will be diffracted to a detrimental degree at 300m

need to drop

Something tells me this character is not a pilot.

I have heard a lot of pilots in my life (though not military) mention dropping altitude.

That is "dropping altitude" in reference to AGL (above ground level) or ASL (above sea level).

You don't understand the concept. Aerodynamically a plane is not designed to conform to the shape of the earth. So a plane going 4000mph would have to "drop" 3000 feet per second to not go flying off into space.. So either the pilot would have to constantly need to be pushing the nose down at a ridiculous rate or... Earth is not a globe. Earth is not a globe.

Are you a pilot? To be fair, I've only flown small planes, and have never been in the left seat of what's essentially a manned rocket. As for 'official' instrument flight (versus VFR), I've only done that on a computer.

The controls used to adjust altitude are the same, whether you're looking out the window, or down at your instrument panel. To maintain any particular altitude, you essentially point the airplane at the horizon and it happens "almost automatically." There's also a 'trim wheel'...

Trim tabs have been used in airplanes for decades. Typically found on the outer edges of the ailerons, rudders and elevator, they live up to their namesake by allowing the pilot or pilots to control the airplane's trim during the flight.

On small airplanes, there's a literal wheel on the panel that you turn to adjust the overall shape of the wings. Turn the wheel to adjust the tabs up a bit when you want to climb, down when you want to descend.

When you're flying so fast that straight line flight could take you out into space, you again simply set whatever kind of trim tabs they have on that thing downward to maintain your altitude. It's a normal part of flying, even in something that fast.

I've had many extended exchanges with the flatters, as I do have an interest in uncovering beliefs that may be wrong. America doesn't really have much of a history with trolls, giants, and dragons, so I don't know much about those.

Part of my reply on another site earlier today to a guy who says he won't disavow the kabbalah, flat earth, and a bunch of other stuff, because he wants to keep an open mind. Are there any other alternate realities you believe in besides flat earth?

I'm thoroughly convinced NASA is 100% full of shit. Alright so let's just start with that. Space travel is horseshit bogus. So then let's question everything NASA shows us, including pictures of earth as a globe. All that is bogus as well because NASA going to space is not trusted.. so here we are, unable to see the globe from space. We are back at square one. What do we have tangible? We have textbooks teaching us the copernican model explaining how the math and experiments with shadows etc "prove" earth is a Globe, however these are all made with assumptions about the suns distance from earth. This is not measurable, and the NASA puppet show surely hasn't been there. Despite me being able to see much further than I should for a standard globe model, there's a possibility it's not flat, sure. However the lack of parallax in the night sky (and no star trails overlap ever), I do not believe the earth is spinning, and in fact it is the rest of the sky that is moving. However I'm not inclined to this theory because horizon lines always remain at eye level, which would change at least somewhat on a ball at higher altitude.

How many of us do you think aren't in on the hoax, either as a percentage of earth's population, or in raw numbers.

Let's use the imagination. probably 200-300 people in the full know and orchestrating everything. This could be like ten groups of twenty people, or 30 groups of ten people (teams) all with their own specialties. Writers/story telling gurus , science theorists/consultants, engineering specialists, news/pr specialists, human resource specialists, education specialists (crowd source smartest kids on the planet how to make a rocket fly through space to Mars on paper agreeing with all assumed math), project managers, foreign consultants, a treasury department, strategists, visual and artistic department etc. All these teams have their own teams of people not in the know (example the welders, fabricators, engineers, artists, etc, the janitors). I would guess like I said 200-300 people, and probably another 2000-3000 (may be much higher) performing sensitive work and likely could be suspicious or know and they don't care and just want to get paid, scared etc. The majority of NASA employees likely not in the know. Astronauts definitely paid liars. The total number of individuals indirectly helping the cause I would guess is over a million people.

Look at their post history.

It’s literally all flat earth, all day, every day.

They have an agenda.

And that agenda is to make flat earther synonymous with conspiracy theorist.

People use the word “shill” a bit too liberally around here.

That user is absolutely, positively, unironically a shill.

Maybe, but I've found some pretty dedicated flatters on other sites too. A few years back, there was a guy on voat claiming to have been part of an original group who started (restarted?) the flat earth joke. According to him, they ended up dropping it after too many people took it too seriously.

It seems too crazy to think anyone actually believes that, but if you've been into the depths of the internet you've seen some seriously disturbed people. Some of those people might make great shills though.
