This place is inundated with boomers and this almost sends the message that it isn’t their fault.
It is entirely their fault.
This is the generation who, for years, said “where’d you hear that, on the INTERNET?” As if that condescension was some sort of own.
Now they literally believe every single meme, Facebook and 4chan post.
Boomers didn’t understand how to navigate the internet then, and they most certainly don’t know how to do it now.
Have a seat, boomers. You’ve done enough.
It's our fault in the sense that we (as a collective whole, special exceptions aside) didn't try to correct course even as the destructive and otherwise harmful effects we were perpetuating became readily obvious. My generation is definitely prideful and stubborn (again in general, special exceptions aside). However I do think it's important to acknowledge what happened to us. We are still 100% responsible for our choices, especially when we knew damn well the consequences but didn't bother to make a genuine effort to be better. It's sort of like how it's valuable to understand the nurture factor in sociopathy, yet that doesn't mean sociopaths aren't at "fault" when they so bad things (they still are).
Damn. This was an honest and thoughtful response.
Thank you for not trivializing your generations role in our current predicaments.
If more of that generation had this mindset, there would be a chance for course correction.
C'mon! Definitely not a boomer but you've got to look at it from their shoes, imagine being promised a certain future and having that future ripped from you. Today you and I are currently responsible for some ignorant decisions we're making at this very moment, and how do we know our decisions aren't digging a deeper hole for society in the future. Can we identify them let alone prevent the outcome?. How can you hold an entire generation responsible for any one thing... Think of the momentum coming from all civilization leading up to the internet, it was pretty easy to just be yourself and live within the means of your society, the world was HUGE and hot dang if the internet didn't bubble up, shrink the world and make new paradigms. Sorry for the rant. Much love, be strong!
