With growing tyranny around the world, the people are stating to fight back. The government can see where this is leading. The police forces will be overwhelmed or fail to enforce the unjust rules. I suggest the government is organizing resources to fight the mobs that are resisting tyranny. There are troops available in Afghanistan that can be used. Look for signs the government is willing to activate troops against it’s own people. The Posse Comitatus Act and be excluded when the Insurrection Act has been invoked. Expect to see more things declared an insurrection.

Nope. World event, military abroad will be moot
The previous US administration was planning to withdraw the US forces from Middle East and place more against China's advance in Indo-Pacific regions.
But of course, it's not certain that where those troops in discussion would go now. Probably your guess might be proved correct.

considering the current administration is literally filled with Obama personnels, one could guess that said troops might be sent away again to Myanmar region in order to deal with the so called Genie Energy factions and Xi Jinping's Princelings.

Personally I believe the troop withdraw is to bring them back to their assigned duty station for some R/R, then redeploy to eastern Europe to bolster NATO troops.
