People are researching to see if the snakes are really parasites that affect your thinking. Kind of like the crazy cat lady syndrome. Hydroxychloroquine could drive them away from your mind.
Caduceus used by physicians is very similar with snakes around a pole with wings.
Not sure of the significance, just seems to be an odd choice.
