My guess is that The cop will walk due to the police policy of using that restraint. Cities will burn again this summer once the mistrial is announced. I assume one of the reasons the National Guard is still in DC is that the leadership know that it is coming and just need to weather the next round of violence.
An important point- I think that if they had simply stuck to "manslaughter" as the charge, they could have gotten him convicted. But they tacked on "murder" too, which has a specific definition that would likely be invalidated on the basis of intent and on him following department use-of-restraint guidelines.
Best case they can make is involentary manslaughter.
He followed his training, applying pressure to the back of a neck without pressure or an unmovable object to the front of the neck will not choke someone some else. At best you can argue it was manslaughter because he didn't use narcan. That is an incredibly hard case to prosecute.
The thing is though the mob here is already threatening possible jurors and people are afraid if they don't convict convict cop they will have their house burtn to the ground and be killed.

Yeah that's part of the plan. Pin him for murder knowing the charges will flop. Join is next week on WWE.

Rooftop Koreans the sequel. I have popcorn ready.
I hadn't thought of that. That is completely possible!
Jurors are afraid if they do not convict the cop the mob is gonna burn down their houses.
In a sane state he would walk. He is gonna be scapegoated here.
