Yes. Electrical tape. Same with my laptop. On my laptop I disabled the hardware. People keep wanting to Zoom and I just say I don't have a web cam. They don't need to know. I specifically bought a desktop setup that did not have a web cam setup.

I really want one of those phones that have a physical switch to the microphone and camera that can shut them off. Some of them even have features like outright removal of parts of the phone that can be used to spy on you.
I cover both. Simple DIY. Get a piece of cardboard from one of those Amazon boxes or whatever. Put your phone on top. Trace outline and cut it out. Now you've got a flap. With you phone on lying on top, put a piece of tape (I like painter's tape) running along the left or right edge. Now you've got a hinge. Open the flap with the hinge and look on the opposite side. Reinforce the hinge by running another piece of tape on the opposite side of the hinge.
The cardboard protects your phone, and if you ever need to take a picture just open the flap like a book. I've had this on my phone for almost a year now, and it's going strong.
