Fake Space Shuttle Deaths - Why would they do this?

I'm sure a lot of us know about the fake space shuttle colombia crash in 1986 which "killed" 6 people, but there is undeniable proof that they are still living

so the question i cant seem to shake, is WHY would they fake this? What are their possible incentives? I just cant really think of a good reason.

Any ideas?

I've had this thought for a while.

Why would someone like Biden ostensibly be valuable?

Beyond being easily compromised, perhaps some of the people in key positions are from twins or more, so they can have a ready substitute.

Remember the "I Want Joe Biden" song?

Buzzfeed posted a video here (1/3 down the page) where at the 15, 23, and 36-38 seconds marks, there is someone who looks more like DeNiro than Biden. LOL

Of course there's masks and actors too, but ya gotta wonder.
