.win links can't always be opened in firefox just by clicking on the link.
I had to change my noscript & adblock settings and that helped quite a bit, but I still find I have to copypaste links directly into the address bar.
I've switched over to Brave for almost everything, but I forgot the password to this account and can't log on in Brave. If it weren't for that, I'd totally be off firefox.
The Brave load on my CPU never goes above 20%. Starting about 4 months ago, FF was using more and more CPU. It got to be as much as 80-100% almost 100% of the time. Guaranteed high CPU usage if I was on reddit. I never even knew my laptop had a fan until the CPU usage started peaking about 4 months ago.
But wait! There's more!
About 2 weeks ago, I started making the switch over to Brave. By the time GME took off last week, like Wednesday, I'd totally stopped going on FF except to visit .win sites. My CPU usage in FF is high, but not constantly 80-100%. Never more than 60% and dropping down to 5-10% if I'm typing a wall of text in a comment.
Until I go to reddit... Then my CPU usage skyrockets and stays there until I close FF. I've gone to reddit a few times on FF just to see, and there's a CRYSTAL CLEAR change in CPU usage.
I've run malwarebytes and a few other similar programs and haven't found anything. I sure AF wish I knew more about programming, where to look for hidden/malicious software/spyware and what those files would look like.
