It appears to be widespread in the same way it was in South Korea and the U.S, and the supposed victory was for, (no surprise here) for Obama-ish liberals.
Note, the military having to step into Burma/Myanmar politics is a continual thing every decade or so, because the civilian institutions are corrupt and incompetent. Sure, the generals are looking out for themselves, but they are the least corrupt of the bunch.
