I can give some detail. I use sterling trader simulator with WarriorTrading. The 1 minute candle sticks were glitching up and down, not accurately showing the price.

Say the bid was 4.48 and the ask is 4.49, the candles would glitch for an instant and show something way below like 4.10. This would permanently make the chart wonky, and all of us day trader's were fairly scared to trade and provide liquidity due to the messed up charts from the glitches. Ross Cameron said he didn't know what was going on, but it might have had to do with something regarding non-best orders somehow displaying on the candles. It was wonky for a decent amount of stocks (maybe 4 out of the 6 I tried to trade today), but not every stock.

I suspect, some people planned to make this happen and make a killing off of it. But that's just a theory.

Only when they want to cut access off to the dumb money. The important trades happen before the cutoffs, usually.

If this is a true shutdown, currencies should fluctuate more than usual, especially HK dolla, and AUS.
