i know that many people are non-religious, or atheist, and therefore do not bother to learn about all these religious concepts,
however, if you really want to understand what is going on in the world, you have to keep up with religious chatter.
there are so many every-day idioms, metaphors, etc that come from the bible, that are used by people with a superficial understanding of them, while missing the deeper meanings.
for example, the saying, "they have eyes, but cannot see" is far more profound than i ever could have imagined when i first started researching the history of this saying. i assumed it was a secular saying that was metaphorical, but its a religious saying that is literally-literal.
