The spell wore off, Obama came in for the Party swap, and kept the same programs in operation. The opposition Anti-War left didn't really go after him in the same manner.
Now covid will be used to take away any stray remaining rights.

can you clarify what you mean? he resigned from the intercept and is no longer beholden to anyone so I think it's to be expected he will strike a different tone.
