Yet the history books have a copyright in them; that gives ownership over definition of history to those who tell it. How exactly does self discernment jive with being owned by others?

Notice also that the history they tell you is never about you, but they get you to pay them to educate the history of others into you, upon which you then define yourself by...doesn't that sound like a crooked deal?

What about historical revision (the bible alone has like over 100k open changes made), or nondisclosure agreements upon history, a stranglehold of the military industrial complex upon everything below their position, usury based private funding, profit based research, backstabbing within a chain of command about positions to educate from, political agendas pushed to destroy cultural heritage, while ignoring any historical ground-rules and so on?

Now consider the following...after a schoolyard soccer game, ask the goalie, the one that made the goal and the audience watching, about how how the game went down and they will always tell you a different story; because they each comprehend what they perceive in accordance to their own perspective. ONE within ALL views through the lens of ONEself.

Also, there's a psychological little game called telephone; Chinese whispers; Stille Post, where you whisper information in to the ear of the first person within a group, and then let them pass it by whispering to each other, until the last person will announce the information received to the collective. This little test has a 99% inaccuracy rate. Information passed by free will of choice will always be transmuted, because choice represents a 50/50 chance of either adherence to or ignorance of information input.

The only thing that is fixed in history is indeed ones own belief, but only if one ignores that ones life already defines ones death...ergo one needs to ignore motion to believe, and that is exactly what other (((ones))) are ruthlessly exploiting to the detriment of all.
