If anyone watched children of men, there were brief scenes where cows were burnt. Probably alluding to this. I think in another people were raising chickens indoors.

Even as little as one egg a day can make a world of difference during food scarcity. It's inevitable that they will be after raising chickens and all we will end up with is insect protein. But at least it will be kosher I presume!
