The adherence to party-line behavior is based on the contract of belief; which tricks one to consent with ones own free will to an offer made by the free will of another, which one thereby upholds as a belief, and henceforth acts upon the intent of the one offering the contract every time one adheres to ones "beliefs", which under the laws of nature represents the choice to ignore oneself.

This selfish ignorance then corrupts into a hierarchy based on blind faith towards false authority (idolatry), and religions managed to establish the highest false authority to be unquestionable (deity), which is why nowadays all within a chain of command do not question the false authority of those above them...they merely follow orders, because to be selfish means to shirk responsibility over self onto another.
