I have had this thought since the day it happened, and my feelers went up further when the "Epstein didn't kill himself" meme rose to prominence, I began to think it would be a good way to cut the conspiracy off at the knees as it reinforces the idea he's dead either way.
Everyone I've floated this idea to is heavily resistant to it, despite having no actual proof Epstein is dead
Epstein didn't kill himself is a good example of "taking past the sale." You argue over how he died and not whether he died. Funny enough, the statement is true even if he's alive.
It didn’t help when the media used pictures of Anthony Bourdain’s death and said it was Epstein.

This would be absolutely, 100%, without a doubt the greatest season of the apprentice ever if it comes out he is alive and singing
I have two theories:
He's alive and talking to the good guys. Which could be good news for arrests.
He's alive and was truly untouchable. Which means he's out there once again raping kids.
