Resistance is different than censorship by a platform.
Yeah? Do explain. The folks behind thedonald.win have clearly expressed their plan to become a platform, hence this migration of conspiracies.win. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but they are clearly engaging in the same behavior they pretend to oppose.
thedonald.win is a thin-skinned, strongly-enforced, single-minded circle jerk.
Oh gross, wait are you saying that the moderators of thedonald.win are also moderators of this site?
The moderators are listed on the sidebar.
One of the moderators here is not on the Donald. The programmer is in common, which makes sense because he is probably the only one who knows how to run the thing right now. They might change later.
Judging by the posts that have been allowed to stand, they don't seem to be banning anyone for, well, I haven't seen anything banned yet.
I can understand your skepticism and welcome it because that is what prevents platforms and mods from exercising their power to censor.
By resistance I mean that a post contrary to the opinions of the board likely won’t get upvoted. Censorship by the platform would be that post being deleted entirely. I have seen accusations of “Rising” algorithm manipulation and am keeping an eye on it. If I can substantiate that I’ll call it out rigorously. Really what I’d like is an open sourced decentralized board software that is easy to spin up and has SSO. That would allow users to just move if mods become censorious.
TDW is most definitely not single-minded. There are tons of disagreements. Most participants are moving in the same direction, but in my experience it has not functioned as an unquestioning hive-mind. There are absolutely cucks who are devotees and are effectively in a cult of their own making. The platform facilitated that to some degree but I don’t believe that was the purpose of the platform. The community strongly enforces the rules of the community most of the time and I don’t see anything wrong with that as long as dissenting opinions that are well stated being excluded entirely is not a rule. It’s definitely a circle-jerk regularly, but not in all cases or even most cases.
I have had numerous accounts banned on thedonald.win without explanation after making posts questioning the popular DONALD TRUMP IS GOD'S GIFT TO MAN, ERMERGRRRRRRRD viewpoint. Or better yet, expressing skepticism about particular theories or "evidence". Literally the #1 rule in the sidebar...
And that's how they moderate. I'm cautiously optimistic about the move to conspiracies.win, but nervous about the approach thedonald.win moderators and founders have taken to that community.
Hell shouting "DEPORT!" to alert the mods about opposing viewpoints is almost a meme in its own right over there.
Yeah, your argument definitely has merit. I haven’t personally experienced the banning behavior, but I can acknowledge that it is structured in a way that heavily encourages an echo chamber.
I’ve had people try to shout me down when I’ve questioned the validity of evidence as well, but stuck to my guns and not been banned. It’s possible that the rabid tribalism has been watered down by the influx of membership following the election. Regardless, more speech is always the solution. Thank you for being on .win!
Its our platform we can do what we want. If you don't like it go back to reddit. Sounds more your speed.
If you got multiple accounts banned its because you were being a troll.
