That's the one of the downsides to an upvote/downvote system compared to a standard webforum format. It makes it harder to have a conversation on more unpopular/controversial opinions. I've just had to learn not to look at the karma and focus more on the productive conversation that I'm having. That being said, the .win communities have been a better place than reddit to have these types of conversations due to the less restrictive moderation. I wish you the best!
