This has always driven me insane. I always go back to the animated movie where the Red Hood implores Batman to kill the Joker by pointing out how many people he's killed.

I get why Joker has to stay alive in the comics, because he's such a great villain... However, when you look at it from a realistic and moral viewpoint, it begs a very important question...

When someone (Batman) continues to allow a mass murdering psychopath to live (and escape from prison) time and time again, at what point does he also become complicit in those murders? After 10 people are killed? 100? 1,000? Does anyone have an estimate on Jokers kill count?

Is the idea to normalize us into accepting that sentencing evil people to death for murdering thousands of innocent people in itself evil?
