No final goal. Lots of different people and groups trying to use it to their advantage. But, top on my list is that global debt levels were unsustainable. They put a band aid over the 2008 financial crisis, but they need some excuse to restructure it.

I don't think it's to avoid revolt. Rather, it is to avoid collapse. The debt levels are unsustainable. Stock market is the façade for the whole house of cards our economy is built upon.
