But in an e-mail to Prof Hossenfelder, a high energy particle physicist (think CERN, or the Large Hadron Collider) admitted that his model was "pretty useless stuff...but if people buy this crap and it helps them to get grants who cares?"

To not my surprise, this group of government funded nerds is a clique that cares more about money for themselves than truth or even being useful members of society.
