I never watched much TV as a kid (or now for that matter) and when I did it was usually cartoons. I was always baffled by how people acted but then I decided to watch some of the popular TV shows to see what the hype was about and I saw that they were just acting out what was on screen. As I've grown up I've seen ever more how the media's shaping of reality represents reality in people's minds more than their actual experiences. Observable reality cannot stand up against the carefully crafted "reality" fed to people by the system. That's why you're seeing this, they whipped.people up over nothing and now have people overlooking what's actually happening because they perceived the media's reality as actual reality and no longer understand how to evaluate the world around them (if they ever did at all)
