If 4/5 of the globe are dying. Not many places to go. But you'd probably want somewhere in the steppes of Asia to survive. Not much in the way of natural disaster outside of the elements, cold, but plenty of natural resources, and wildlife, remote, and above sea level, and away from the major faultlines. But otherwise hostile. But those places can also be found on other Continents. Not quite but are often far more populated or much colder or hotter.

Otherwise your guess. Why are we talking about Russia as that topical comparison, yes it is resource rich and much is very remote. But a history of warfare, attacking, invasion, and defending. There are nukes preventing attacking first. Unless you attack somebody else without them. Haha.

If 4 in 5 people are dying it doesn't matter because somebody else will attack you first. It would be like the Walking Dead, the biggest threat is everybody else.
