They want notoriety more than anything else in the whole wide world, so to avoid giving them what they want, we won't say their name on the air.
Someone so selfish, so narcissistic, that they're willing to harm people, strangers, innocents, for infamy... But also so selflessly disassociated that they'd throw away their life out of the blue, when they could have just stayed home and preserved the most important person to themselves: themselves.
It's a weirdly specific stance for such a broad range of media platforms to all simultaneously decide to take. Like when Obama was elected and people started capitalizing color words for races. Lockstep shifts that don't make a whole lot of sense.
Other narratives also. Anyone white is a white supremacist. The media applies their own manifestos to each event, takes the emotional response and molds it into control over the TV watchers.
