Define first what you mean with "stay alive". You mean functioning like a modern industrialized state?

If you mean all that inclusivity shit under "modern", that's not work here at all. Or an ability to create every year new shitty smartphones. That is not "modern". It is shit.

Even after 30 years of destroying industry, Russia still a modern industrialized state. It just don't specialize on smartphones or cloud services. It somehow still create pretty decent space devices, nuclear power plants and many other interesting stuff. Despite the all efforts of its ZOG to destroy all that tings.

They traded with each other all over North and South America.

So wahat is the problem if Russians will trade with each other all over East Europe and North Asia?

Russia was not self sufficient during the Soviet Era. E.g. a large part of its weapons came from Ukraine.

There was no any Ukraine or Russia. There was USSR approximately in the borders of Russian Empire. Republics in USSR was not even something like USA states. It was only formal division. Ukraine region did not made anything unique. There was f.e. Antonov aviation complex, it was moved from Novosibirsk, but on the territory of current Russia still was many aviation enterprises. USSR government tried to spread everything serious over all USSR territory in the fear of nuclear war. There was electronics factories in nearly every republic of USSR, evenly distibuted over all USSR. Everything was multiplied and set in different places, to avoid potential harm if one region will be destroyed by the potential enemy. So, everythig in Ukrainian SSR was repeated everywhere.

Mechanical equipment from East Germany etc.

East Germany was part of mostly electronics industry. They also did nice lathes and mills, but that was not critical. When USSR needed something exceptional, it use Western equipment, bought through India. And it also was not critical. Bought equipment disassembled and copied.

Russia heavily relied on other Soviet states.

Do you understand that USSR was not a bunch of separate countries? It was a single country, just like Russian empire before revolution.
