I'm not shure about $50k for upper orbit satellite, but that will be definitely enough to easily pass Karman line and may be even put something light on LEO. Or just pay to launch your homebuilt Cubesat formfactor satellite with your own tranciever and talkback guts everybody could easily check with cheap RTL-SDR dongle.

As for Moon landing it easily could be a hoax of hoax. Humans developed a technology to reach other celestial bodies. US used it to show a superiority in space race.
