I was thinking how it would be funny to superimpose a cartoon needle over Nathan's toy when he's introducing the idea. Then the scene could swap out the word "toy" with "vaccine" and you'd have yourself a little meme joke video.
Then, after watching the episode again, I couldn't help but notice that the 'toy' looks exactly like "covid-19" (see image). And there is no real reason in the show's story arch to be shaped like that- literally all it had to be was a shitty toy.
And, the meme joke is funny because it applies; it fits; it truthfully suits the situation because peer pressure really is going down like this...the hypnotized are actually this easy to control.
Which, seems a little too close to home if you watch it a few times.
The president part too
It all sort of lines up if you're high enough on your post-work joint.
I'm not married to this idea, but it does make me wonder.
The episode was filmed like a decade ago.
