So, I was thinking it's more along the lines of Samael and Lilith's bloodline.

Ya know, in Hebrew Samael means "Venom/Poison of God" (I didn't know, just looked it up!) Perhaps Samael was the serpent. There's obviously plenty in occult circles about Samael/Lilith being the counter or "negative" version of Adam and Eve.

Excellent post though, and I'm gonna think on it some more on it.

Edit: Also, don't forget that in astrological terms, the closest "heavenly body" isn't necessarily the moon, because some occultists consider Lilith to be the second focal point in the ellipse that the moon's path makes around Earth.

Also, Lilith's role in I Pet Goat, II is fairly pronounced.

Furthermore, there's a fair amount of interesting detail in Samael's wiki page about his connection to the serpent (like being the serpent rider in some myths and being shown as a lion-faced serpent in Gnosticism). So it does tie in to one of your guesses, possibly. :)
