You are right about nuclear. Fusion reactors are still experimental and cost far too much to power. The super heated plasma wear electromagnets down after a few attemps. Rare earth parts. But the energy they need to turn on and then to harness the plasma for just over a minute isn't viable yet as an energy source. It is expunging energy quicker than it's producing.
