You're seeding them way to much power. Yes you can think, just not within their inverted paradigm. Seek independence from all their nonsense, rather than dependence, and just the opposite when it comes to God. We're coming up on times, where we'll need to rely on him more than ever.
Quite frankly, this is all probably God attempting to draw people back to him. The spiritual precedes the material. We're desperately in need in this nation of spiritual repentance, reformation, and revival. Christians desperately need a return to the bible's fundamentals. As America descends, I don't think it's any coincidence that recently it was found that that fewer than half of Americans might belong to a church, and only 6% hold to a biblical worldview.
Nowadays we also see way too much false doctrine preached, covetousness occurring and priorities misplaced within the church.
