I didn't even read the title of your post-or just forgot it the moment I started reading, and that this picture was meant to be the smaller portion of text, my mind went straight to the majority of the text. anyway, after some googling,as per the part "And fome of the ancient Indian Brachmans are faid to have made themfelves Cloaths of it. They tell us alio, that the Wickj for the Ancient’s Perpetual Lamps ( if there were any fuch thing) were made of the Threads of this Alumen Plumofium, or Asbefion." it was meant to read Alumen plumosum, which is asbestos. so they made clothes/cloth made of asbestos. weird little piece of information, but at least we both know that now, even if thats not what you cared about ha.
