tl;dr - The bible teaches that the jews in the bible were terrible people and loved themselves more than they loved God so God had to keep putting them in their place until He was like "These idiots just do not get it so I am changing the rules and diving in." At this point, Jesus came along, called everyone retards that believed in anything but Him, and offered salvation to everyone that seeked and believed in Him.
