I bet most Christians--especially the females--prefer Christmas being a Mass Consumerism holiday. It has really become a holiday where people try to display their wealth or a reason to recklessly shop and spend all the money they saved up for the year.

Most of these songs are essentially department store jingles that would get played on the radio to get people in the mood to go shopping. Even to this day, the jingles are paired up with Christmas sales commercials on TV and radio.
