Recommendation is to wipe out non-persistent malware that doesn't survive reboot.
By this logic NSA has persistent malware for all phone platforms. Nothing new.

Sad part is that like all things, you can secure your self with an OS and filters, etc... but the moment your communicated data leaves your space, its unsecured. We live in a tin can string to a bull-horn society.
I have found no way around this except two physical phones , one of them being a dumb phone , other being a GrapheneOS phone.
And even that is not perfect , but much better than 1 iPhone or standard android.
