The simple truth of it all is that it is not the mechanisms that can be corrupted to fail us but the people. No momentary system will ever work when we do not have a homogeneous like minded and checked/balanced loyal people and system. Right now we are functionally alienated from those who run the system, and thus they over complicate it so as to make it impossible for us to combat it.
