People's perceptions of the weather are controlled by the media. I spend a lot of time outside every day for various reasons, and over last summer I experienced it being rather mild. Yet all kinds of people in my area would talk about what a brutal summer it was, but most of these are people who's time outside consists of walking from the car into a store. I started following the weather and lo and behold they were pushing the idea that it was such a scorching summer.
Same thing happens with storms, they over hype storms and nothing big happens but then people will still talk about it as if something big did happen.
It's all being done to make people feel like the weather is out of whack, because as we all know from COVID (if we didn't know before) people will believe in what the media tells them more than the events they actually experience themselves

used to love the weather channel, but now TWC has become the weather fear-porn channel.
