First thought was how do they know it wasnt man made, but of course nothing we have would have come that fast at that angle, so it definitely was not from this solar system. I think the chances of it being man made, now or 300,000 years ago is very, very slim.

The magnetic sled thing was neat. I guess the assumption was that most meteorites are something like nickel-iron and pieces can be attracted by magnetic forces.
I hope the Harvard professor uses advice from a materials scientist about how the globes might have formed. I assume that the hot meteor exploded, and the molten metal drops became globes with crystallized metal atom arrays. This probably created the hardened steel and is NOT the broken fragments of a spaceship hull.
